May 10 - Prayer - Questions - Vereses
May 10
Heavenly Father, there are so many things in the Bible I don't understand. Some of them I have no understanding at all and others I understand a bit, but struggle to get the entire picture of what You are doing. I know in Revelation Jesus tells John there are things He isn't to write about that he is shown. I know we aren't ready to understand everything, so what I ask today is that You help me be satisfied with what You help me understand. I crave to know You better and understand Your word better, but that doesn't mean I have to understand in all in one day. Help me to accept the spoonfuls of understanding You give me and realize that they are a gift from You. There are people I don't fully realize their role in Your kingdom and quite frankly places where I even think Your judgment doesn't always seem fair, but I have to remember that You never promised that our life would be fair and You are always right. When I remember those things, it is easier to accept Your word. That is what I ask today, that I accept Your word even when I don't understand it. Thank You for what You reveal of Your word and for helping realize I don't have to understand to believe.
I love You so much Father and want to praise You for all You do for me even when it doesn't make sense to this finite human mind. Thank You for loving me and helping me understand what You want me to understand. Thank You for Your love, giving Your Son, and Your grace and mercy.
I Jesus' name.
Amen!
There isn’t much about Melchizedek in the Bible and many think he is more than just a High Priest. What do you think his role is?
Why do you think there isn’t more about him in the Bible?
Do you think Abram was right to not take anything from the king of Sodom except food? Why or why not?
May 11 – Genesis 14:17-24
17 After his return from the defeat of Chedorlaomer and the kings who were with him, the king of Sodom went out to meet him at the Valley of Shaveh (that is, the King's Valley). 18 And Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine. (He was priest of God Most High.) 19 And he blessed him and said,
“Blessed be Abram by God Most High,
Possessor of heaven and earth;
20 and blessed be God Most High,
who has delivered your enemies into your hand!”
Possessor of heaven and earth;
20 and blessed be God Most High,
who has delivered your enemies into your hand!”
And Abram gave him a tenth of everything. 21 And the king of Sodom said to Abram, “Give me the persons, but take the goods for yourself.” 22 But Abram said to the king of Sodom, “I have lifted my hand to the Lord, God Most High, Possessor of heaven and earth, 23 that I would not take a thread or a sandal strap or anything that is yours, lest you should say, ‘I have made Abram rich.’ 24 I will take nothing but what the young men have eaten, and the share of the men who went with me. Let Aner, Eshcol, and Mamre take their share.”
