22 Then
Moses made Israel set out from the Red Sea, and they went into the wilderness
of Shur. They went three days in the wilderness and found no water. 23 When
they came to Marah, they could not drink the water of Marah because it was
bitter; therefore it was named Marah. 24 And the
people grumbled against Moses, saying, “What shall we drink?” 25 And
he cried to the Lord, and the Lord showed him a
log, and he threw it into the water, and the water became sweet.
There the Lord made for them
a statute and a rule, and there he tested them, 26 saying, “If
you will diligently listen to the voice of the Lord your God, and do
that which is right in his eyes, and give ear to his commandments and keep all
his statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you that I put on the Egyptians,
for I am the Lord, your healer.”
27 Then they
came to Elim, where there were twelve springs of water and seventy palm trees,
and they encamped there by the water.
How soon they forget. The
Israelites traveled for three days. They needed water and none was to be found.
At Marah, the water was bitter. Moses cried out to God and he instructed Moses
so that the water could be made drinkable. Once again, God’s provisions were
more than adequate. Our God is so good. As you go through your day today, be
mindful of the provisions of our God. It is so easy to take for granted all
that God does for us. Offer prayers of thanksgiving today. We are so blessed.
Thank you, Lord God.
Heavenly Father, how often
do I cry out to You because my life isn’t what I want it to be or expect it to
be? You never promised us life would be
easy. Jesus actually told us we would
have trouble. There are times I know we
all feel like the world is caving in on us.
I have many people in my life that are hurting right now, Father. I have to admit that I don’t understand why
these people are hurting so bad. They
are very godly people who love You and want to serve You. But it isn’t for me to question, but to pray
and ask for Your grace and mercy for them.
I know that there are many times You allow things to happen in order to
prepare us for something coming down the road.
I pray things get better, but I also know that the only thing I can
count on for sure is that You will take Your children home at the right time. I have had so many times in my own life when
You allowed things to happen in order to show me how powerful You are when You brought
things right again in such a way that it could only be You. Help me always cry out to You in a way that
is acceptable. I never want to be
lacking faith, but I also don’t want to make demands. Help me be a child of faith and action.
In Jesus’ name.
Amen!
