November 15– Exodus 33:12-16
12 Moses
said to the Lord,
“See, you say to me, ‘Bring up this people,’ but you have not let me know
whom you will send with me. Yet you have said, ‘I know you by name, and
you have also found favor in my sight.’ 13 Now
therefore, if I have found favor in your sight, please show me now your
ways, that I may know you in order to find favor in your sight. Consider too
that this nation is your people.” 14 And he
said, “My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.” 15 And
he said to him, “If your presence will not go with me, do not bring us up
from here. 16 For how shall it be known that I have
found favor in your sight, I and your people? Is it not in your going with
us, so that we are distinct, I and your people, from every other people on
the face of the earth?”
I love that Moses feels
the freedom to speak such words to God. He is reminding God of His promises and
basically says. “If you don’t deliver, don’t move us from this land.” God
reassures Moses that He will be with him and that He will give Moses rest. I am
sure, at this point in time, Moses needed rest. What a mighty God we serve. He
will give us rest and peace as we move through our days. We simply need to call
upon God and ask that He envelope us in his peace and comfort. I know this
personally and if you haven’t cried out to our Father for His peace and
comfort, find time today to ask. He will deliver!
Heavenly Father,
I feel like Moses so often and want to say, “If You aren’t going to go with me,
I’m just going to stay right here!” because I know the world isn’t easy even
with You right there with us, but if You weren’t going with me, I don’t want to
go! I can’t imagine how hard life would
be without You to lean on, to love and especially to be loved and guided. The world is not my home! I know that more and more each day. I am so thankful I was raised in a home where
You were not just talked about or celebrated, but a home where You were
lived. Day in and day out we lived a
life that revolved around You. I pray
that I am a reflection of You each and every day and that people can see You
rather than me. I so want to be one that
lives for You, but I know I fail daily.
Help me to be my best for You.
In Jesus’ name.
Amen!
