November 19– Exodus 34:18-24
18 “You
shall keep the Feast of Unleavened Bread. Seven days you shall eat unleavened
bread, as I commanded you, at the time appointed in the month Abib, for in
the month Abib you came out from Egypt. 19 All that
open the womb are mine, all your male livestock, the firstborn of cow and
sheep. 20 The firstborn of a donkey you shall
redeem with a lamb, or if you will not redeem it you shall break its neck. All
the firstborn of your sons you shall redeem. And none shall appear before
me empty-handed.
21 “Six
days you shall work, but on the seventh day you shall rest. In plowing time and
in harvest you shall rest. 22 You shall observe the
Feast of Weeks, the firstfruits of wheat harvest, and the Feast of Ingathering
at the year's end. 23 Three times in the year shall
all your males appear before the Lord God,
the God of Israel. 24 For I will cast out
nations before you and enlarge your borders; no one shall covet your
land, when you go up to appear before the Lord your
God three times in the year.
God gives very
specific instructions to Moses concerning the celebration of several festivals.
These are to be followed so that the people will be reminded of the time spent
in Egypt and the exodus that God provided for His people.
I often wonder if
I need reminders to lead me back into worship with God. Such reminders are so
easily seen. I look at the beauty of nature, the miracle of human life and I am
just amazed at all God provides.
Take some time
today to thank God for his amazing provisions and the best gift of all, His son
Jesus Christ.
Heavenly Father,
Debbie is so right that we have so many reminders of You all around us, but so
often we look right past them. Help me
to see You, in Your creation. You gave
us so much beauty and so often I am too busy to enjoy it in the way that I know
you would want me to and in a way that would keep You constantly in front of me
as You deserve to be. Help me to see You
everyday and keep You as my focus. Help
me to share You with others and serve others so they can see Jesus in me. Help me love You more every single day, and
be used by You more every day. I so want
to honor You, share You, love You, and live for You. Help me be what I need to be for You.
In Jesus’ name.
Amen!
