November 23– Exodus 35:10-19

10 “Let every skillful craftsman among you come and make all that the Lord has commanded: 11 the tabernacle, its tent and its covering, its hooks and its frames, its bars, its pillars, and its bases; 12 the ark with its poles, the mercy seat, and the veil of the screen; 13 the table with its poles and all its utensils, and the bread of the Presence; 14 the lampstand also for the light, with its utensils and its lamps, and the oil for the light; 15 and the altar of incense, with its poles, and the anointing oil and the fragrant incense, and the screen for the door, at the door of the tabernacle; 16 the altar of burnt offering, with its grating of bronze, its poles, and all its utensils, the basin and its stand; 17 the hangings of the court, its pillars and its bases, and the screen for the gate of the court; 18 the pegs of the tabernacle and the pegs of the court, and their cords; 19 the finely worked garments for ministering in the Holy Place, the holy garments for Aaron the priest, and the garments of his sons, for their service as priests.”

I love that these verses show us that God wants us to use our very best for Him.  He called for skillful craftsmen, and we know who gave these craftsmen their skills.  The Father who is giver of all things, asks us to use these gifts and skills for His glory.

What gifts has God given you?

Are you using your gifts to glorify Him, or just to bring honor and recognition to yourself?

What can you do to use the gifts and skills God gave you to give back to Him?

Heavenly Father, I thank You for the many gifts You give us and ask that You help me remember that any gift or talent I have, is not truly mine, but Yours.  You are the giver of all good things and I want to give back to You by using those gifts to bring honor to You.  I can’t help but be frustrated at times at how people take recognition for themselves in a way that seems they did something to “deserve” that gift or talent.  A smart person isn’t smart because of what they did, but because they were given that gift.  What we do with those gifts You give us is what we can claim.  Help me to remember to always give You glory for everything and bring glory to You and not myself.  Thank You for loving me when I am so unlovable.

In Jesus’ name.

Amen!
