December 11 - Joshua 1:1-9
December 11 - Joshua 1:1-9
1 After the death of Moses the servant of the LORD,
the LORD said to Joshua the son of Nun, Moses’ assistant,
2 “Moses my servant is dead. Now therefore arise, go over this Jordan,
you and all this people, into the land that I am giving to them, to the people
of Israel. 3 Every place that the sole of your foot will tread upon
I have given to you, just as I promised to Moses. 4 From the
wilderness and this Lebanon as far as the great river, the river Euphrates, all
the land of the Hittites to the Great Sea toward the going down of the sun
shall be your territory. 5 No man shall be able to stand before you
all the days of your life. Just as I was with Moses, so I will be
with you. I will not leave you or forsake you. 6 Be strong and
courageous, for you shall cause this people to inherit the land that I swore to
their fathers to give them. 7 Only be strong and very
courageous, being careful to do according to all the law that Moses my
servant commanded you. Do not turn from it to the right hand or to the
left, that you may have good success wherever you go. 8 This
Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate
on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is
written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will
have good success. 9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and
courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for
the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.”
God told Joshua, “Be strong and
courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for
the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.” Have you gone through periods in your life
when you have felt alone? If we’re
honest, we all have. Work to memorize
this verse placing your name before the first word.
Example: Sarah, be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed,
for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.
(Placing your name in front of this
scripture personalizes it for you, which is exactly what God intended. Be comforted that God is always with you and stand firmly on this
promise.)
Oh
Heavenly Father, You do want us to have a personal relationship with You. You want us to hear You calling us by
name. You know us each better than we
know ourselves. It is amazing to me to
realize You know how many hairs are on my head.
You know every cell in my body…because You created them all. Help me to have a relationship with You that
is personal and special. You alone can
build me up in ways no one else can. You
know what I need to hear, not necessarily what I want to hear, but You always
give me what I need in every moment.
Help me to realize that and to praise You and glorify You for all You
do, and what You don’t do. You don’t
hold my past against me, You don’t expect me to do things without You. You are with me in every moment and You hold
me up daily.
Thank
You Father for this love that is indescribable.
Thank You for Your Word so we can know You better and learn how to love
like You love. Thank You for taking us
through the wilderness. I am so thankful
You don’t just take us to the wilderness and leave us there, but You are with
us and take us through it and to the other side, where You can teach us, use us. Please mold me and make me what You need me
to be this day. Help me reach those for
You that You put in my path.
In
Jesus’ name.
Amen!
