29 - Judges 1:11-15
11 From
there they went against the inhabitants of Debir. The name of Debir was
formerly Kiriath-sepher. 12 And Caleb said, “He who
attacks Kiriath-sepher and captures it, I will give him Achsah my daughter for
a wife.” 13 And Othniel the son of
Kenaz, Caleb's younger brother, captured it. And he gave him Achsah his
daughter for a wife. 14 When she came to him, she
urged him to ask her father for a field. And she dismounted from her donkey,
and Caleb said to her, “What do you want?” 15 She
said to him, “Give me a blessing. Since you have set me in the land of the
Negeb, give me also springs of water.” And Caleb gave her the upper springs and
the lower springs.
This little story inserted
here is a lesson in “You don’t have because you don’t ask.” How often do you think what you want to ask
for is out of the question? Sometimes
with men, it is not possible, but when we are talking to God, it is always
possible! It might not be best, but it
is always possible. Never forget who God
is. There is nothing outside His
ability. Be sure you are asking in God’s
will, and having full faith in Him.
What do you want to ask
God to give you today that you thought was impossible?
Heavenly Father, I know
nothing is impossible with You, but I also know there are things we ask for
daily that could do us harm. Help me to
remember to ask completely believing, but also always wanting what You know is
best for me. I often say, “The answer is
always no if you don’t ask”. Help me to
remember Your power, grace, and Your wisdom as I ask You for things. The world sometimes dims my thoughts on what
is possible and I don’t want that. I know
in my head You can do anything. Help me
translate that to my heart. I believe,
help me with my unbelief.
In Jesus’ name.
Amen!
