February 16 – Judges 6:19-24
19 So Gideon went into his house and prepared a young
goat and unleavened cakes from an ephah of flour. The meat he put in a
basket, and the broth he put in a pot, and brought them to him under the
terebinth and presented them. 20 And the angel of God said to him,
“Take the meat and the unleavened cakes, and put them on this rock, and pour
the broth over them.” And he did so. 21 Then the angel of
the LORD reached out
the tip of the staff that was in his hand and touched the meat and
the unleavened cakes. And fire sprang up from the rock and consumed the
meat and the unleavened cakes. And the angel of the LORD vanished
from his sight. 22 Then Gideon perceived that he was the angel of
the LORD. And Gideon said, “Alas, O Lord GOD! For now I have
seen the angel of the LORD face to face.” 23 But
the LORD said to him, “Peace be to you. Do not fear; you shall
not die.” 24 Then Gideon built an altar there to
the LORD and called it, The LORD Is Peace. To this day
it still stands at Ophrah, which belongs to the Abiezrites.
Gideon does not see himself of a man of valor and importance. After all, his clan was the weakest in the
land and he thought of himself as the weakest among the clan. God insists that he is the man for the job
and that He will be with Him. After his
encounter with God, Gideon stops and worships God building an altar to the
Lord, “the Lord of Peace”. What a
beautiful and amazing transformation we see in Gideon as he is changed from
being filled with doubt to peace.
Are you struggling with something God is calling you to and
doubting your ability to successfully fulfill His call?
God is a God of promises.
If He calls you to it, He will guide and lead you through it.
Pray earnestly for discernment and ask God how He will show you
the way. Then trust Him to supply
wisdom, strength and guidance.
Heavenly Father, there are times I doubt me. I never doubt You, but in my mind are the
limitations of what I can do and I sometimes neglect to remember You can do
anything. Why do I place limitations on
what can happen when I know You can do anything? It isn’t that I don’t trust You, I don’t
believe in me enough, I guess. Help me
remember that You can use me and remove my human limitations when it is Your
will and Your way. Guide me in where and
how You want to use me and help me remember that there are no limitations when
it is Your plan. Remove my thoughts of
my limitations and use me in a mighty way.
Thank You Father that You allow me to be a part of Your wonderful
plan. It is an honor to be used by the
Creator. I believe, help me with my
unbelief.
In Jesus’ name.
Amen!
