February 27 – Judges 8:18-21
18 Then he
said to Zebah and Zalmunna, “Where are the men whom you killed at Tabor?”
They answered, “As you are, so were they. Every one of them resembled the son
of a king.” 19 And he said, “They were my brothers,
the sons of my mother. As the Lord lives,
if you had saved them alive, I would not kill you.” 20 So
he said to Jether his firstborn, “Rise and kill them!” But the young man did
not draw his sword, for he was afraid, because he was still a young man. 21 Then
Zebah and Zalmunna said, “Rise yourself and fall upon us, for as the man is, so
is his strength.” And Gideon arose and killed Zebah and Zalmunna, and he
took the crescent ornaments that were on the necks of their camels.
Gideon finds out that
these kings killed his brothers so he had no choice but to execute them. He gave a young man the order but he
hesitated. He was probably no more than
a teen. Certainly young as a soldier.
Have you ever struggled to
act as you know God is guiding you?
Sometimes I hesitate to do something God asked me to do. He will see that His will is carried out, but
I might miss out on the blessing of being obedient. It is hard to know when God is speaking and
what He wants.
How are you able to know
when it is God speaking to you?
How can you grow into
recognizing God’s voice?
Heavenly Father, help me
know You and Your voice better each day.
Help me not only recognize Your voice, but understand Your instruction
and Your ways better. Help me to act quickly
when You ask something of me and help me not hesitate to be obedient. Thank You for making Your word available to
me. I know not every generation has had
access to scriptures and even today many aren’t allowed to open a bible and
read. How blessed I amj today. Thank You for these amazing words You share.
In Jesus’ name.
Amen!
