March 17 – Judges 12:8-13
March 17 – Judges 12:8-13
8 After
him Ibzan of Bethlehem judged Israel. 9 He had
thirty sons, and thirty daughters he gave in marriage outside his clan, and
thirty daughters he brought in from outside for his sons. And he judged Israel
seven years. 10 Then Ibzan died and was buried at
Bethlehem.
11 After
him Elon the Zebulunite judged Israel, and he judged Israel ten years. 12 Then
Elon the Zebulunite died and was buried at Aijalon in the land of Zebulun.
13 After
him Abdon the son of Hillel the Pirathonite judged Israel. 14 He
had forty sons and thirty grandsons, who rode on seventy donkeys, and
he judged Israel eight years. 15 Then Abdon the son
of Hillel the Pirathonite died and was buried at Pirathon in the land of
Ephraim, in the hill country of the Amalekites.
These
verses share three additional judges who judged Israel for different periods of
time, died and were buried. What is our
takeaway from these verses and this chapter?
God desired that his judges be spirit led. When our lives are spirit led we seek
humility and meekness during conflict.
Are
you in the midst of conflict with another?
Perhaps
it’s with your spouse, relative, friend or maybe even yourself.
God
desires to commune with us. He wants our
lives filled with joy, peace and comfort.
It’s only through him that these areas of hope can coexist in the midst
of a sinful world and nature. What steps
can you begin today to mend a conflict and restore a relationship and enjoy the
intended peace and joy God has for you?
Heavenly
Father,
Conflict
is a part of life. Having conflict doesn’t
mean I have failed, but how I handle it is what shows who I am. Help me lean into You rather than my own
understanding when I have conflict. I
know there are some relationships that aren’t healthy for me. Help me be able to let go when You ask me to
walk away. I always think about what
Jesus said at the last supper about problems.
He said, when you have trouble, not if…I know there is trouble in
life. The enemy sees to that. Help me remember to keep You as the focus of
all I do. Help me love You more every
day.
In
Jesus’ name.
Amen!
