April 23 – Ruth 3:14-18
14 So she
lay at his feet until the morning, but arose before one could recognize
another. And he said, “Let it not be known that the woman came to the threshing
floor.” 15 And he said,
“Bring the garment you are wearing and hold it out.” So she held it, and he
measured out six measures of barley and put it on her. Then she went into the
city. 16 And when she came
to her mother-in-law, she said, “How did you fare, my daughter?” Then she told
her all that the man had done for her, 17 saying,
“These six measures of barley he gave to me, for he said to me, ‘You must not
go back empty-handed to your mother-in-law.’” 18 She
replied, “Wait, my daughter, until you learn how the matter turns out, for the
man will not rest but will settle the matter today.”
Boaz shows Ruth generosity in these verses, and we see
that he has a good reputation from what Naomi says about him in verse 18. She knows he will take care of things
quickly. We also see God at work in a
barley field. What ordinary places have
you seen God at work in your life?
Ruth took drastic action that could have led to her being
criticized. Is there action you need to
take that might not be easy or popular?
Follow God, and you won’t go wrong.
Heavenly Father, You daily show me how gracious You
are and how much You want to guide me.
Why is it I can’t seem to follow You in everything? You are so faithful, but I am so not. I want to follow You in everything, but I am
so easily distracted. Help me keep my
focus on You and what You have for me to do.
I truly want to stay on track, but to say I get derailed would be an
understatement. I believe, help me with
my unbelief.
In Jesus’ name.
Amen!
