September 9 – 2 Samuel 8:15-18

[15] So David reigned over all Israel. And David administered justice and equity to all his people. [16] Joab the son of Zeruiah was over the army, and Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud was recorder, [17] and Zadok the son of Ahitub and Ahimelech the son of Abiathar were priests, and Seraiah was secretary, [18] and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over the Cherethites and the Pelethites, and David’s sons were priests.

As David reigned over Israel he was committed to justice and righteousness.  It was important to him that his leadership and leaders demonstrated integrity and fairness as they set up their governance. As we look at leadership in today’s society, what do we see?  Whether we serve as leaders or find ourselves under someone else’s leadership, the Word is clear.  As leaders, we are expected to be full of integrity, honesty, consistency, and transparent in our actions.  As followers it’s easy to be loyal when our leaders show the character that David demonstrated.  Are you seeking God’s guidance in your current workplace, home, community, or church?  How can we emulate David’s leadership?  How can we earn the respect of our employers?  What should we do if our supervisors/workplace is hostile or unfair?  Remember to seek God’s guidance in all situations as you leave a legacy of honor.
