October 28, 2024 - 2 Samuel 22:1-6
22 And David spoke to
the Lord the words of this song on the day when
the Lord delivered him from the hand of all his enemies, and from the
hand of Saul. 2 He said,
“The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my
deliverer,
3 my God, my rock, in
whom I take refuge,
my shield, and the horn of my salvation,
my stronghold and my refuge,
my savior; you save me from violence.
4 I call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be
praised,
and I am saved from my enemies.
5 “For the waves of death encompassed
me,
the torrents of destruction assailed me;
6 the cords of Sheol entangled me;
the snares of death confronted me.
How much time and money do people spend on security? Making sure their homes, belongings, cars and
family are safe? These verses show us
the true place to seek safety and security is in the Lord. When you are feeing vulnerable do you run to
your pastor, neighbor, friend, or counselor, or do you cry out to God? I’m not saying we shouldn’t take measures to
keep our worldly goods secure. We are
called to be wise, but I find so often I spend more time and money on those
things and just my leftover time for God, if I have time left at the end of the
day.
What are your priorities?
Look at your calendar and see if there are things you spend time on that
aren’t really worthy of your time and attention. Are there some changes God is calling you to
make? Don’t put it off until tomorrow,
because tomorrow truly never comes when we do that.
What can you do today to make God a priority in your
life?
