29 And
God gave Solomon wisdom and understanding beyond measure, and breadth of
mind like the sand on the seashore, 30 so that
Solomon's wisdom surpassed the wisdom of all the people of the
east and all the wisdom of Egypt. 31 For he
was wiser than all other men, wiser than Ethan the Ezrahite, and Heman,
Calcol, and Darda, the sons of Mahol, and his fame was in all the surrounding
nations. 32 He also spoke 3,000 proverbs, and
his songs were 1,005. 33 He spoke of trees, from
the cedar that is in Lebanon to the hyssop that grows out of the wall. He spoke
also of beasts, and of birds, and of reptiles, and of fish. 34 And
people of all nations came to hear the wisdom of Solomon, and from all the
kings of the earth, who had heard of his wisdom.
I can’t wait to meet Solomon someday. I know he wasn’t perfect. Far from it, in fact. But God gave him wisdom beyond all
others. I would love to meet someone who
is truly the most intelligent in the land.
I have met many people who THINK they are wise. Usually they think they are much smarter than
they are. When I run across someone who
touts their intelligence, I can’t help but think…do they not realize who gave them
that intelligence?
Just like our salvation, everything we have
is truly a gift. Not just the “gifts” we
talk about often like the gift of teaching, hospitality, administration, etc.
but the job we have, the children we raised, the car we drive, the house we
live in…they are all gifts from God.
What is a gift God has given you that you
didn’t think of as a gift before now?
How can you use that gift to serve God and
draw others to seek Him?
