April 14, 2025, 2 Kings 25:27-30

27 And in the thirty-seventh year of the exile of Jehoiachin king of Judah, in the twelfth month, on the twenty-seventh day of the month, Evil-merodach king of Babylon, in the year that he began to reign, graciously freed Jehoiachin king of Judah from prison. 28 And he spoke kindly to him and gave him a seat above the seats of the kings who were with him in Babylon. 29 So Jehoiachin put off his prison garments. And every day of his life he dined regularly at the king's table, 30 and for his allowance, a regular allowance was given him by the king, according to his daily needs, as long as he lived.

Oh, what just a little bit of kindness can do.  I wonder why amidst all this chaos and evil, this one king shows some kindness to this one who was now a prisoner.  Who do you know that might be a prisoner, maybe not in the sense we typically think of as prisoner, but someone who is struggling and in a prison of sorts.  This can look like the person who is struggling financially and can’t afford to take their kids fun places, or out to eat, or the parent who can’t move out of the area because of shared custody, or the person who is struggling with depression, or the prison of alcoholism, or other addictions.  There are many prisons that the enemy has created and imprisoned us.  We can be the link to help show kindness to those in need.

What can you do today to show kindness in Jesus name today?
